For all of you unpublished authors out there here is a head's up. If you're like me you write for the shear joy of it. When I started little did I know what went into everything once you were published. I know I thought it was a matter of just getting published and then sitting back and hoping the accolades would come rushing in at some point. Maybe you've even written the new best seller. Boy was I stupid.
I thought it was hard just going through the publishing process. Again I was a babe in the woods. After you've written the book then gone through the nightmare of getting published does the really hard and exhausting work begin. You have to promote. This is the really hard part. You do everything you can think of and everything you have to just to get even one good review and maybe sell one book. It will take up a good deal of your time and it is never ending. Even established authors have to go through this although they can hire someone to do most of the work for them. Until you've reach the status of being filthy rich it's all on you and it is hard work. So like I said this is a heads up to you. You are only starting your journey and you have many sleepless, nerve wracking, mind numbing nights ahead of you. Is it worth it? I can't answer that one for you, hell I can't even answer that one for myself yet. I only know that if I don't do all the work then I will never know for sure how good I may actually be and to me that's worth pursuing.
