As of last night my first book is in hard print. That's right, hard print. You can now get my first book at createspace.com. I'm so happy right now. Well outside that I'm waiting for the results from the blood test to tell me whether or not I have mumps.
Yes mumps. Can you Believe that? I may have frigging mumps. At my age no less. I come in under the line for when they started really pushing children getting vaccinated. I had the small pox and polio vaccines when I was a child but outside of that they just didn't push that sort of thing. Actually it really wasn't widely available until I was halfway through school. Anyway enough of that. I have ordered my first book and it should be here October 19. Can you believe that? Fourth book published on Friday and on Monday the first one went into print. Now I have to get the rest published. You can now get my ebook on Amazon. I'm moving along everyone.

I've seen a lot of post lately on facebook about growing up. I'm sure if you have a facebook account you know what I'm talking about. One of my favorites is the one where you give a list of how things will be handled in the future and if you need me I'll be at recess. Don't we all wish.
I would love to be able to be that person. Unfortunately I find I have to be an adult. Anything short of that and my husband would end up dead. No, not because I would do anything to hurt him but because he would do something to hurt himself. Are all men like that? They start out doing something and the next thing you know you have to go and rescue them. My husband does, or worse yet he does something that all I can do is be there in case he needs an ambulance or the coroner. I kid you not. This man can get himself into more bizarre situations than anyone I have every seen. Don't get me wrong the man is amazing. He can do anything in the world. I have never known him to find anything he can't do. It's the silly little things that you are required to do that somehow manages to back fire on him and he ends up in a mess. I don't get it. He can climb under a bus with the thing jacked up and work on it all day long and no problem, knock on wood. However let him open one of the bay door, for those of you who don't know that that is it's the lift up doors on a bus where you store baggage and things, and the next thing you know he is being dive bombed by a swarm of hornets. He can be working on something under the hood of a vehicle and he knows what he's doing but maybe a nut that was a little to tight suddenly lets go and it knocks the tops off all his knuckles on one hand. Hell I can't trust him not to get a sun stroke because he gets so involved in what he is doing that he forgets that it's frigging hot outside. He's must think he is the energizer bunny or something. Hot or cold he will work on something until he gets it finished no matter what and I promise it will be done right. He just doesn't think about the little things. Hey he isn't the only one who has suffered from his diligence. I've been whacked on the head, had a tree, a fairly big one, dropped on me, and various other mishaps when I got too close to what he was doing. I've learned not to get too close to him when he is doing his thing. At one point I even asked is he had taken out another insurance policy on me that I didn't know about. He said no but I'm not so sure of that. I just stay out of his way now. Coupons only good at Smashwords: Blood Lines 'Buried Treasure' BF52Y Journey into Nightmares PX72B Blood Lines 'Family Matters' GH48D Blood Lines 'Family Ties' went premium. Well the fourth book is finished and published. Finally. This has been the hardest book to write and the hardest to get published. I'm still waiting to see if it makes it to the premium catalog and that takes a while. Yes I'm waiting again.
You can download it to most readers from Smashwords so if you want the book and don't want to wait you can get it there. Why was this one hard to write? Well one of the things I said I would stay away from is any heavy sexual scenes in my books but this one was determined to make me eat those words. No it wasn't a hot and heavy love scene between two normal characters but something quite different. The scene was necessary to the ending of the book. I have to thank a couple of friends who helped me get through it. William and Patricia thank you for your support and encouragement. You'll never know how much that means to me. Now I can move on to Allie's book and get it finished. Hey that lady wanted a particular type of book that stemmed from this one and I promised to deliver. Deliver I will. So far she has liked my books so I hope I don't disappoint her with this one. I had thought I would write the next one under a pseudonym but I have decided that if I write it then it's going in under my name. Yes it will have a more steamy love scene or two, three, maybe four. I promise it will tie into the story. Actually the book has been started and I'm quite a way through it now. It will start a new series if it goes over well. Anyway that's what's going on in my world. Hope everyone has a great weekend. OK, it's 1:06 in the morning and I'm beat. Just finished with the grunt work on the latest book and wanting to get some sleep. This had been a long drawn out ordeal. Wanted to have this done by by this past weekend and have it published but that didn't happen. I ran all weekend and then all day today.
So what now. Formatting. Yes that's it folks, formatting. For those of you who may not know what that is it boils down to getting the book set up in a way that the meant grinder will accept it and then it goes on to be published. What is the meat grinder you ask. OK so you didn't ask but I'm going to tell you anyway. That is something where they take your book and run it through a process that will pick up on certain types of errors and plagiarism and if it passes then it goes on to be reviewed. Once you're through with all this then the book is published. It can take anywhere from a few days to weeks. Let's hope this one doesn't fall into the weeks category. So onward and upward. I now hope I shall have four books in print and since I'm well into my five hopefully it won't be long until another one springs from me and I'll have five. Yes I have great expectations but since that are all directed at me then no one can bitch about that too much, at times however I think my poor husband would like to. Anyway I'm tired and going to lay my little head down and get some rest. Tomorrow is soon enough to get the formatting done. Have fun everyone and hope you have a week of great surprises. So what do I have to bitch a about. Well you name it because I have a list as long as my arm. I swear I think everything that could come up to really piss me off has. Notice I say to come up and not to have happened. There is a big difference.
When things happen it usually results in things going down the crapper at a supper sonic rate. When things come up it usually means crappy things come your way that just really makes your nerves hop on the crazy train. These things tend to be minor irritations although some are very serious. When you find yourself suddenly dealing with a lot of them at one time, no matter how bad they are, you just want to start screaming and throwing things. Now as far as my family is concerned they are not only innocent but totally ignorant of my present state of mind. No most of these are outside of my household except trying to get two books ready for something and that is driving me nuts. The others involve Walmart, a crazy psycho bitch who feels like she is entitled to the world dropping at her feet and worshiping her, an arsonist who set a damn fire and someone near to me got hurt because of it, and my favorite and very special ink pen is broken. Now all of these things have happened in the past 48 hours so a lot to process. The top on the list of course is the dear person who got burned. No not real bad but that he got burned because someone set a damn fire burns my ass to no end. I need for people to take a chill pill and settle down. I was doing a reread on the latest book and noticed I used a word that my Grammar and Spell Check didn't like. Now it looked like a perfectly good word to me so I fell back on the old but tried method I use when I have any doubt.
I look it up on the internet. Sure enough the word was there along with the definition. I'm good. I read the definition. I'm not so good. Actually I'm not good at all. So what was the word? Tosser. Yes tosser. Now I'm not going to give you the definition because if you want to know then you are going to have to do what I did and go look it up for yourself. Yes we've established I'm mean so move on. Anyone who has read any of my books knows that Alison, one of the characters in my books, calls Emma, another character in my books, silly little pet names regarding what she does professionally. She's an Archaeologist. Alison calls Emma cute little names like Crypt Crawler, Sand Shifter, Mummy Mugger, all kinds of stupid little titles. Well the word tosser was used in one of those names, i.e. Tomb Tosser. That's right. Now some of you will get this but my bet is there are quite a few of you who want. For those of you who do get it you can stop laughing at any time now and for those of you who don't you will after you look it up. I have to always put two words together for these titles with the same letter beginning each one. The kicker is that there is a word I could put in front of the one word meaning of tosser and still be following that rule. No I'm not going to tell you what that word is but if you find out what tosser means and want to figure out what word I could have put in front of it is to make it work please feel free to send a comment. I really would like to know how many people who can figure it out. Here is a little hint for you guys. The word I could put with the other word for tosser is also another word for tomb. Now let's see who can come up with the new two word title and is willing to get back to me. No I am not about to use it in the book. Most of us knows what it's like to buy a car. It can be a time consuming, tedious, hair raising experience. This is compounded when you're not shopping for yourself but going with one of your children for them to go through this
I don't know about you but car shopping has always been something I hated. You can go through weeks trying to find the right car and then once you have found what you think you have found the one that suites you best then the real nightmare begins. Getting it financed, making sure you have the proper insurance coverage, and worst of all dealing with a car salesperson. You get through however and you finally have the keys to your new baby in your hand and drive it off the lot. It's a wonderful feeling. I don't care how many times you've done it you are always a little more excited than you let on. Well watching my daughter buying her very first new car and it is her very first new one, she didn't bother to hind anything. She is about the happiest young woman on earth right now. So my husband and I ended up on an all day endeavor but what a wonderful day it has been. Gina has her car and she is so happy. Tell me does it get any better than that? I love writing. Sitting here alone a lot of the time and just weaving a tale that I hope others will like is rewarding. I've tried to explain what it's like to write.
For true die hard book lovers you know what it's like to lose yourself in a book. You fall so deep into the story that you become a part of it. Well for me, I don't know about other writers but I will be willing to bet it's the same, you fall even deeper into the story. For a time everyone in your story becomes almost real. I become lost in my stories. So what is it I hate. Well the editing part isn't a lot of fun but even more than that is the last read you have to do before you let it go or send it back to be edited again. The last is usually because you've changed something major and it has to be edited again. I look forward to being able to putting a couple of years between writing the book and reading it. To be able to sit down and read your book with almost a fresh mind and fresh eyes. I so look forward to that but damn it I hate the wait. That is what I hate the most. I think I've mentioned before how much I hate to wait, well now I have to wait a really long time to be able to read my book just for the sake of reading a book. I'm going to do something that I wonder if other writers do. I'm going to be totally honest about something. Ask me who my favorite author is and I'm going to say me. Yes me. I'm my favorite. Will that change? Well I know of a couple of people that if they get that first book out I will probably like more but until then it's me. |
